Most grains contain a lot of linoleic acid (omega 6) but only a few contain alpha linoleic acid (alpha linolenic acid) which is the omega 3, they are all part of EFA (essential fatty acids). The ratio of omega 6 and 3 healthy for humans according to various world health agencies is 4:1, but most sources of food from seed or from animal fats contain too much omega 6 with an average ratio of 10: one of the omega-3 fatty acids. Imbalance ratio of omega 6 and 3 into the causes of various diseases like-heart, arthritis, diabetes, skin disease to emotional disorders. A workshop in 1999 organized by the U.S. National Institutes of Health demonstrated the benefits of the balanced ratio of omega 6 and 3 in the daily food intake. The benefits include reduced risk of atherosclerosis, heart attacks, the emergence of certain types of cancer to the optimization of growth in infants.
