Some of the substances contained in cannabis is known to fight and kill brain cancer cells. Substances in cannabis works as a protector which disrupt the formation of cancer cells and cause damage.
Research shows the possible use of cannabis opportunity to cure brain cancer. But it does not mean that patients are able to rush to use marijuana because the dose used in the study are too large to be inhaled like mengganja.
Researchers have long analyzed the material contained in marijuana, the cannabinoids as materials that have good effects on health. Other substances contained in marijuana is THC which can make someone feel soar when smoked marijuana. These substances are used in research to fight brain tumor or glioblastoma.
The study, published in Molecular Cancer Theraupetic mention that two substances found in marijuana, THC is the cannabinoid and proven effective in killing cancer cells and prevent it from growing back.
"Treatment with cannabis enables tumor cells removed from the brain. Rather than target the target tumor cells, a substance in marijuana works as penyelimut which would interfere with the formation of cancer cells and destroying it," said Dr. Paul Graham Fisher of Stanford University and Packard Children's Hospital as reported by HealthDay, Tuesday (12/1/2010).
Fisher said that the technique of brain cancer treatment with marijuana is estimated to begin on humans within 10 to 15 years. "We must get out of the box and take it as a remedy in the future," said Fisher.
The method can be used in this treatment is injected directly into the brains of cannabis materials, but the method is quite expensive although the price of marijuana itself is not expensive.
Further experiments need to be done on humans to determine the appropriate concentration and dosage marijuana use in fighting tumors or brain cancer.
